In 1968, under Pastor Underwood’s leadership, government funds for housing development were sought from various governmental agencies. This was done so that better housing could be brought into the community. Grace Baptist Church was successful in cutting through much of the City, State and Federal Government red tape in order to qualify. The Urban Coalition loaned the Church $10,000 for seed money.
