1991 

Pastor Underwood and his family rejoiced in the blessing of the addition to their family in the birth of the his second grandson - LeBrandon Stephen Smith.

 He was elected President of New York Progressive State Convention.  He also served as President of the east New York Clergy Association.

 He extended the Radio Broadcast to include a fifteen minute “Talk interview” which conveyed information of concern on current issues that affected the church and community.   

He saw a need for and introduced a “ Drug Awareness support Group”   Now know as “The Lazarus Group”.   “The Lazarus Group” continues to meet on a weekly basis and has helped numerous people. 

His spiritual guidance led to the ordination of three additional Deacons.  They were Thomas Scott, Alfred Osbourne and Walter Parson, Jr.
